Garden Necklace Yokohama 2017

Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan and always worth a visit. At the moment it is even more worth it, because the 33rd National Urban Greenery Fair Yokohama, also called Garden Necklace Yokohama 2017, is held since 25th March. With this yearly event the whole city is decorated with beautiful flowers and you can enjoy a stroll around the area.
Garden Necklace Yokohama has three main flowers. First starting with the famous cherry blossoms, which are blooming from late March to mid April. There are 12 different types of cherry trees set up within the event area in containers, so you can enjoy the beauty of all kinds. Second flower is tulip. You will find over 300,000 of these, however, the most interesting varity is the “Lover’s Town” that can change its color over time. They are blooming until the end of April. For sure, also roses shouldn’t be missing, because they are the official flowers of Yokohama. The roses will be presented in three roses garden, blooming from the beginning of May until June.

The event has two main areas: the Minato Garden and the Satoyama Garden. The Minato Garden is the easier reachable and has a lot of different spots around Yokohama’s Minato Mirai area. It is aimed to represent the history and the future of Yokohama. Main attractions are the Yamashita Park and the Harbor View Park, the decorations at the Nihonnodori street, the green cubes in Grand Mall Park and the garden exhibits in Zou-no-hana Park. But there is even more. A Japanese map is available at the information points all over the area.

The Satoyama Garden is located in the suburbs of Yokohama, close to Yokohama’s Zoo Zoorasia. You probably need to take a bus to get there. At Satoyama Garden you can find a one hectare large field of spring flowers and some forest attractions.

If you are flowers lover you should definitely take a visit to Yokohama soon. The event is held until 4th June 2017, however, flowers are not blooming all the time and so the appearance will change. And don’t miss the chance to take a photo with the cute mascot.
And to finish, here I have a little photo spam  (^_~)v
