Located around 1 hour by bus from the Kansai International Airport, the Universal Studios Osaka is now most famous for attracting the crowds for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction area. This is the first Universal Studios theme park footprint in Asia outside of the United States and opened in 2001. In addition to the latest Harry Potter section, it consists of seven other sections: Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Waterworld, Jurassic Park, Amity Village and Universal Wonderland. The 39hectare theme park enjoys the most visitorship in Japan after the Tokyo Disney Resort. If you are lucky, you will be able to take photos with popular character mascots such as Hello Kitty, the Minions and characters from Sesame Street such as Big Bird. There are also various shows and parades that can be enjoyed at various times of the day. The Universal Citywalk Osaka leading to the park’s gates provides a shopping haven with various themed restaurants and shops selling exclusive merchandise and local souvenirs. There is also an Osaka Takoyaki Museum located at the mall, where you can sample famous versions of the grilled octopus balls under one roof.
