The food is so fresh tasting, and the atmosphere is nice.
And the staff is friendly, and professional.

Widely known for having the best fresh uni (sea urchin) in Hakodate, Uni Murakami is a must try for seafood lovers. You can visit this venerable spot in the Hakodate morning market.

While waiting for my table, I observed box after box of fresh uni delivered to the kitchen from the market outside. The restaurant specializes in several uni dishes. Crowds line up for a taste every day. The most popular dish by far is the Uni Donburi, a bowl of warm rice covered with pieces of fresh uni with a dollop of wasabi. Large (3500 Yen) and small size (2160 Yen) portions are available. I recommend going with the Large. If you want to mix it up, other popular Donburi bowl options are available, including the San Shokudonburi (Three Color Bowl), rice topped with uni, raw scallop, and ikura (salmon roe). The Goka Kaisendonburi (Seafood Bowl) has assorted fresh seafood from the daily catch that morning. All Donburi orders come as a set, with miso soup and pickles.

No menu in English is available. However, pictures accompany all of the items listed on the Japanese menu.

If you are still hungry for more uni, try some other house specialties. The Uni Karayaki is a lightly baked uni served in the shell, and the Uni Guratan (Uni Gratin)–is a delicious baked uni and cheese gratin with a crispy golden crust, also served in the shell.

Reservations are recommended if you plan on dining after 9 am. Early yes, but this is when the uni is guaranteed to be the freshest. If you can get up early enough, the restaurant opens at 7:30 am. Located at the southwest end of the morning market, Uni Murakami has a small, elegant dining room with both tables and traditional tatami rooms. The lovely, quiet ambiance is in contrast to the market outside. For uni lovers, this is the place to go in Hakodate! Uni served all year round.
