Beautiful place to visit, especially in Autumn when all the leaves are a rainbow of colors. Tricky enough to get to unless you are familiar with the area. There is a bus though, which is probably the easiest way to go as a first timer.

Go in the evening and you will see the beautiful light up the night sky.
Since there is long distance, you can go up with elevator.
Without a doubt, autumn is the best time to go - the falls with the changing leaves is the iconic scene for Fukuroda. It does get BUSY though - it's a popular and well known spot to see the foliage, so just be aware of that.
