This cafe is awesome! It's is so delicious and has a great atmosphere. There is cafe drinks, desserts and some entrees. Nikko Coffee is a short walk from the temples in Nikko and on the path towards the stone figures and botanical garden. If you are in Nikko this is a must!

This is a cool cafe away off the beaten track in Nikko.

Nikko has a few cafes around town, but this one is the best. It's located inside a renovated Japanese-style house with the original wood intact, and the seating area looks out over the charming back garden.

The owner is absolutely fanatic about his coffee and you will definitely get a good cup, but you might have to wait a bit while he gets it just right.

The attraction here isn't just the ambiance and quality joe, though. Don't leave without trying their shaved ice (kakigori in Japanese). The ice comes from a source up in the mountains, where it is frozen and then cut out in blocks like in the old days. It's shaved thinly and then topped with evaporated milk or fruit syrups. Absolutely delicious and so refreshing after a day of temple hopping!

Nikko Coffe is open from 10am to 6pm. It is closed every Monday, as wel as the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
